| MAESNANT OUTDOOR PURSUITS CENTRE The Maesnant Centre is an outdoor centre designed to provide self catering accommodation for youth groups. As an outdoor education centre, the majority of the centre's hirers use Maesnant as a base for training activities for activities such as the Expedition part of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme or the similar schemes of uniformed organisations such as Scouts, Guides, ATC, Sea Cadets, etc. The Maesnant Centre is owned by the Harrow and District Outdoor Pursuits Centre Trust which is an independent, registered charity established for the purpose of helping and educating young people by their leisure time activities. In addition to youth group bookings, the centre is available for bookings from family or similar groups. Location The Maesnant Centre is situated in Mid-Wales in wild, mountainous country about 5 miles from the nearest village (Ponterwyd), but it is accessible via a public highway. Maesnant is located on the North West slopes of Plynlimon mountain, overlooking the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir. Aberystwyth is about 18 miles to the West of Maesnant. The mountain roads are tarmaced right up to the gate of the centre. The Plynlimon (Pumlumon) area of Wales is one of the country's best kept secrets.
