Celf Ruth Jên Art

I was born and raised in the village of Cefnllwyd near Aberystwyth and studied at both Carmarthen and Cardiff College of Art where I gained a degree in Fine Art, specialising in printmaking. After a period of travelling I returned to mid Wales, where I’ve worked as a full time professional artist exhibiting extensively both here in Wales and abroad. I gained an MA in printmaking at the Aberystwyth School of Art in 2015.
As well as the work that is inspired by my rural background such as the ‘Sheep ear markings’ series, I have also been developing a body of work based on the iconic image of the’ The Welsh Lady’. Through the stylized figures that I create I try to deal with issues and situations in a humorous and provocative way and take inspiration from, colloquial sayings, traditions, folklore, and the nuances within the Welsh language.
Alongside the original artwork I also have an exciting range of contemporary welsh gifts ranging from limited edition prints, linocuts, cards, calendars, tea towels, decorations and lots more!
